The initial years of Shikhar’s operations would be in the NCR region of Delhi that inhabits over 3 million people living in slums and 45% of its population lives in unauthorized colonies, Jhuggie Jhoparies (slum household) and urban villages. These are the areas lacking basic facilities, civic amenities and access to livelihood opportunities. The absence of credit support or access to finances makes life more vulnerable to these dwellers.
